Hawaii Vacation

DCIM100GOPRO
Just got back from Hawaii with the Family and it was a lot of fun. My brother and I made great use of our GoPro cameras. We got a lot of footage and a lot of pictures. I have been meaning to put together a video.

Every morning Jlai and I went swimming at the place where the IronMan starts. I want to get better at swimming, and she wanted to start swimming again every morning. We couldn’t go as far as much of the other swimmers, but we were able to swim a good distance. Every day we kept improving, and I feel much better at swimming. I eventually want to compete in the Half-Iron man challenge, and this was the perfect place to start training.

We found this great little hole in the wall cafe called Ali’i Buzz. It’s a small family run cafe run by a lady named Sharon and her husband who moved from Oregon to live in Hawaii. They moved to Kona about a month ago and have renovated this little cafe. We never saw it last year, but this year we went there almost every morning. We met a guy named Demetrius and he was very nice. He had moved from Seattle to live in Kona. Packed up all his stuff and moved. The food is great and everything is made right there. The Macadamia Nut Scones are the best when they come right out of the oven in the morning, and I’m not usually the one to eat scones.

We went to the beach every day. The first was the White Sand beach where we jumped off of the rocks. My niece Destiny and my Aunt played with the sea animals on the rocks. The next day we went snorkeling at a beach with a lot of turtles. We also went to another one called 2 step beach, which has a lot of yelp reviews, but we were unimpressed. It wasn’t that great. The day we went to the Magic Sand Beach, Raymond and I had a lot of fun boogie boarding the waves. The waves were probably 15 feet high and would create a massive tunnel. This is the place where I broke the boogie board last year because the waves were too big.

Besides just going to the beach, we also rode around on the 3 penny boards we had. My brother and I got some good footage skating through the mountains, as well as around the house.

We also played a lot of games. I brought Settlers of Catan in my bag, which took up about half my bag, but luckily I pack lightly. My brother bought a game called “Pointing Fingers” which was pretty funny to play.

We did a lot of things including Rowing as a family, bike riding, paddle boarding, skateboarding, snorkeling, swimming, dining, barbequing, badminton playing, cow feeding and shopping. Had a great time and can’t wait to do it again!
