I made this SMS interfaced application to quickly create Memes on any phone. You would text the number, and it would return an MMS with the picture generated.

Just got back from Hawaii with the Family and it was a lot of fun. My brother and I made great use of our GoPro cameras. We got a lot of footage and a lot of pictures. I have been meaning to put together a video.

Every year CBS has a hackathon and I wanted to participate in it this year. Originally I was going to build a browser plugin for myself to find Kelley Blue Book prices for Craigslist cars, but I didn’t know if this was the appropriate medium for that type of hack. Instead we all had a brain storming meeting so that we could come up with ideas. My idea was to use the Javascript Browser to track the usage of users on our sites since we had a javascript file on most of our partner sites, however this may slow down the customers site, so we wouldn’t be able to use it on partner sites. Maybe just something locally. The other ideas were to create ads calls on our partner pages, a game to create content, and finally the winning idea which was to create a browser plugin to to track the price of recent items that you viewed. This was something we all liked, and I liked it because it was a browser plugin which is what I wanted to work on anyway.

So I built an alarm clock using the Gadgetron Arduino which I designed. It works pretty well! I used it 2 nights already as my actual alarm. It loses about 10 minutes a day, but it’s pretty good. Has the ability to set the time, set the alarm, show seconds, snooze, and disable and enable the alarm. It also has a buzzer and LED for the alarm.

Check out Twicker on the AppStore!
I built an iPhone app with my friend Ryan Garcia for the LA Hacks Hackathon. After we built it, we put it up on the App Store, and we weren’t expecting much attention from it. I put it up for free, and didn’t really advertise it at all because it wasn’t too polished. I just checked, and it’s at 1.53K downloads! It may have 2 stars, but I’m working on fixing known bugs, and getting an update pushed out!

After weeks of designing a board on PADS, I finally have a finished product. I’ve created my own arduino board for research. This is built for the Gadgetron Project for the research I do at UCSD. It has look and feel as the Arduino Pro Micro, but this first step will allow for more complicated designs of gadgets in the future. Now time to build an Alarm Clock, and 3D print a case for it!

This weekend I went to the FaceBook SoCal Regional Hackathon. All schools in the Southern California region participated including: UCLA, UCSD, UCI, USC, and other schools. I decided I wanted to build an iPhone app that used the camera to take a selfie, remove the background and replace it with a bunch of different images, then play the selfie song. (more…)

Here is the first design I made using a 3D printer. I used TinkerCad to design the picture frame, and used the MakerBot to print the picture frame. I added a loop to hang it, and a hole, just incase the loop broke off.
